So, Half Baked Harvest and Benny Blanco are Besties?

The food influencer-music producer friendship you didn’t know you needed has been simmering on low heat right under our noses. Tieghan Gerard of Half Baked Harvest—the queen of cozy recipes—casually dropped on Taste of Taylor that she’s been cooking with none other than Benny Blanco for years. Yes, the one who’s now engaged to Selena Gomez.

“Benny just cold DM’d me,” Tieghan told Taylor Strecker. “And I’m like, who is this? Are you? I’m like, what is going on?” 

But unlike your average slide-into-the-DMs situation, this one actually turned into something legit. They’re in the kitchen together, apparently cooking up chicken parm pizza. Tieghan describes Benny as “a good friend” who is “wickedly smart” and says “people underestimate him.” Okay, then!  She continues, “I’ve never met someone more talented.” Is this about the pizza, landing Selena Gomez, or any of his other accomplishments? 

If you’re wondering who the hell is Benny Blanco, well… he’s not just Tieghan’s culinary BFF. He’s a Grammy-nominated music producer and songwriter with a resume that reads like your favorite playlist. Think: Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Halsey—the man has hits. He’s the guy responsible for chart-toppers like “Eastside” and “Love Yourself,” and now he’s making headlines for his latest romantic remix: being engaged to none other than Selena Gomez.

According to Tieghan, dating a global superstar is “the least cool thing about Benny.” No shade to Selena, but Tieghan says “he gives back wildly” and “he’s good to be good. He’s not good to make himself look good.” It seems though that Benny’s been food-curious for a while now, even publishing a cookbook called Open Wide and slowly making a name for himself in the culinary world. Not bad for a guy who started writing beats in his bedroom.

Tieghan and Benny’s collab proves that magic happens when you mix talent, creativity, a shared love of good food, and sliding into the DMs. This is a friendship we can absolutely get behind!
