If there’s one thing Meghan Markle knows how to do, it’s aggravating all the right people while building something meaningful. Case in point? She dropped a brand-new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, which immediately claimed the top spot on Spotify’s business charts—surpassing The Joe Rogan Experience

Confessions launched on April 8, featuring Bumble founder and billionaire Whitney Wolfe Herd. It’s smart, inspiring, and deeply personal—exactly what we’ve come to expect from Meghan, who continues to use her platform to spotlight other powerhouse women.

But the moment that really sent the internet into overdrive was Meghan’s intro. Meghan opened the episode by calling herself “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex”… and then casually referred to herself as Meghan Sussex.

Cue the royalists clutching their pearls.

You’d think she committed royal treason rather than simply using the last name of her husband and children. Something millions do without scrutiny.

People change their names all the time. J.Lo. Jada Pinkett-Smith. Kim Kardashian-West (until she wasn’t). It’s not a scandal—it’s branding. But when Meghan does it? British tabloids act like she’s personally rewriting the Magna Carta. The double standard is exhausting. And transparent.

This isn’t about etiquette. It’s about autonomy. And Meghan continues to reclaim hers.

What Is Meghan Markle Really Selling?

As Ever, always sold out

Recently, her new lifestyle brand As Ever (a co-branding effort with Netflix) went live, and—surprise— everything sold out in minutes. The jam, the teas, the crepe mix, even those twee flower sprinkles that the internet roasted just because it’s Meghan Markle (boo!). And yet, beauty editors and fashion insiders who typically yawn at celebrity brands are suddenly clearing space on their kitchen shelves. People want what Meghan’s selling!

Adding “Investor” to the resumé

And if podcasting and product lines weren’t enough, Meghan quietly made another smart power move: she’s now an angel investor in Midi Health, a virtual care clinic tailored to women navigating perimenopause and menopause.

While the wellness world scrambles to catch up to the needs of women over 35, Meghan’s already there—backing a company that’s doing something about it. Midi’s mission is to bring real medical support to a demographic that’s long been ignored, misdiagnosed, or dismissed. Meghan’s decision to support them isn’t just smart—it’s personal, progressive, and rooted in a long-overdue cultural shift.

So what’s in a name? Everything.

When Meghan Sussex took the mic, she wasn’t making a scene—she was making a statement. A new podcast. A new product line. And a new investment in women’s health. All executed on her timeline, with her voice and her name.

You can choose to stay mad. We’ll be over here, listening to Confessions of a Female Founder, spreading As Ever flower sprinkles on everything, and watching Meghan Sussex build her empire—one sold-out product, chart-topping episode, and industry-shifting investment at a time.

And maybe she’ll be checking out another episode of Breaking Beauty with us.

Over 50 & Flourishing
Welcome to Over 50 & Flourishing, the show for any woman who feels like she lost her compass in the sea of midlife. I’m here to tell you it’s never too late to change your course and awaken the healthy, wise, and wonderful woman within. My name is Dominique Sachse, and I love to ask questions, which was why I spent nearly three decades of my life in the TV news business. I also started a YouTube channel in 2014 to connect intimately with my community, and I took an even deeper dive in my book Life Makeover - Embrace The Bold, Beautiful and Blessed You. I’ll be the first to say, I’ve made mistakes, and I’m not afraid to be vulnerable and learn from them. I mean let’s face it, this stage of life can be complicated. Children are moving out, relationships are being examined, our parents are aging, and we’re having to manage all of this along with our menopause! It’s easy to lose sight of ourselves, but can I just say.. we matter. So, whether it’s finding ways to enhance and celebrate our own beauty, taking bold steps toward living our best life in the second half of life, finding ways to be healthier, happier, and more spiritually connected, I will bring you thinkers and innovators who share the same passion of flushing out these ideas. It’s my goal to leave us all feeling inspired, thought and intent-driven, and with a sense of purpose in whatever we pursue. Let’s celebrate growing older together and embrace our Prime. It’s our time!
