Why Allison Kuch Waited to Share Her Pregnancy News—and What She Learned—on ‘Sunday Sports Club’

Pregnancy announcements always look easy from the outside. Someone posts a sweet photo, and the comments flood in; everyone assumes the timing was intentional. But on Sunday Sports Club, NFL wife Allison Kuch shared her pregnancy announcement story with such raw authenticity that it reminded listeners that timing isn’t always a strategy—sometimes it’s just life happening faster than you can keep up.
How she approached the timing of the announcement
Allison explains that none of this was planned or strategic. “I hate keeping secrets. And I didn’t even intend for it to be a secret,” she says. “I genuinely just feel like so much life was happening. And I also have an almost two-year-old. Life has just been so busy. I feel like I’ve been on a plane every single week.”
For many mothers, the second-time-around experience hits differently, especially when you’re already running after a toddler. Kuch also folds in her awareness of how pregnancy content can land for people, aware that such announcements can be triggering for people trying to conceive. “Some people may be struggling trying to conceive or struggling with their own battles,” she notes. “So I just wanna make that very clear that, like, this isn’t going to be a motherhood podcast.” Her consideration for her audience’s feelings is palpable, making them feel respected and understood.
Why she knew before Clearblue
Kuch recalls that she knew she was pregnant before she even took a pregnancy test to confirm it. I found out when I was very early…I think I found out at like four weeks pregnant that I was pregnant,” she reveals. “I didn’t find out I was pregnant until about six weeks with my daughter. All I have to say is those two weeks really matter.”
But for Kuch, it was how she found out that was most memorable. “I found out I was pregnant through my dead grandma,” she recalls. “I said, if I’m pregnant, I want to see an owl today. But I had no intention of leaving the house…And we randomly got a call from some of our friends…And the second we pulled up, they go, ‘You guys, look, there’s an owl.’ And I was like, I’m pregnant.”
Sharing the special moment with her husband
Another thread running through the episode is connection—specifically with her husband, former Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Isaac Rochell.
Kuch explains why she didn’t take a pregnancy test alone, saying, “I love that people take tests alone and then surprise their significant other. I just can’t do that. I was like, you know what? This is special. You only find out you’re pregnant so many times in your life. And I want to find out with my husband again, because that’s what we did when we got pregnant with our first daughter.”
Even in a busy season, she still wanted to honor the experience itself—not just the announcement that followed.
She’s protecting her privacy
Kuch lets her listeners in on a boundary she’s holding. “I’m due in April,” she says. “I don’t wanna say the exact date because then people are just gonna be commenting like, ‘Have you given birth yet?’ It’s really just privacy.” Her commitment to privacy is clear.
It’s a small thing, but it reflects a larger theme running through the episode: she’s choosing what feels peaceful, not what feels expected.
