Chelsey Jade and Jaci Marie Reveal the Secrets to a Regret-Free Wedding Day

Weddings are supposed to be the happiest day of your life, but the planning phase can feel like a full-time job with a side of decision fatigue. One scroll on Instagram and suddenly there are a thousand new ideas flowing through your brain. Or, you’re one more pin away from a meltdown.
On a recent episode of What We Said, hosts Chelsey Jade and Jaci Marie talk about what really drives wedding regret—and how to dodge it with a little clarity, a few boundaries, and a lot of self-trust.
‘What We Said’: How Brides Can Avoid Wedding Regrets
Trust in the happy tears
When a listener wrote in worried about second-guessing her dream dress after seeing endless bridal content on Instagram, the hosts came to the rescue. She explains that she tried on a strapless drop-waist gown and immediately started crying—the good kind—but still couldn’t shake the “what if there’s something better out there?” feeling.
Chelsey and Jaci’s advice? Trust those tears. “Truly, if you feel gorgeous in it, and if you feel comfortable and fun and beautiful and you feel like you can be yourself in it, that’s genuinely all that matters. It doesn’t matter if there’s a better trend,” Chelsey says.
Trends fade, confidence doesn’t
It’s tempting to get swept up in what’s “in” right now—minimalist slip dresses, oversized bows, pearl everything—but Chelsey and Jaci say that trends are just that: trends. Five years from now, nobody is going to be analyzing whether your gown was straight off the 2025 Pinterest board or if it leaned more timeless and traditional. What people will remember is how you carried yourself walking down the aisle.
Chelsey points out that even the most “dated” styles can look iconic if the bride is radiating confidence. Jaci adds that weddings are about your story, not the algorithm. Your dress should be a reflection of you, not a nod to what will rack up the most likes on Instagram.
They encourage brides to ask themselves one simple question: “Do I feel like myself in this?” If the answer is yes, you’ve already nailed it. Because when the photos come back, it won’t be the cut of the neckline or the sleeve style that makes them glow—it’ll be you looking completely at ease in your own skin.
Get it tailored
Even the most beautiful dress off the rack can feel a little “off” until it’s tailored to your body. Fit is everything—and it’s often the hidden ingredient that transforms a dress from “pretty” to “perfect.” A gown that made you smile in the fitting room will only look more incredible once it’s hemmed to your exact height, the straps adjusted so they sit just right, and the bodice shaped to highlight your figure.
Jaci notes that brides sometimes panic because their dress doesn’t look like it did on the model or online, but alterations are designed to bridge that gap. Jaci adds that small changes, like adjusting the neckline or adding buttons down the back, can make the dress feel completely customized without losing the magic that made you choose it in the first place.
Protect your peace on the big day
Nothing stirs up opinions quite like a wedding. From family members weighing in on the guest list to friends hinting at who should be in the bridal party, it can feel like everyone has a stake in decisions that are really yours and your partner’s to make. According to Chelsey and Jaci, boundaries aren’t optional, they’re essential.

Trying to please everyone leaves you exhausted and less present for the parts that actually matter. Chelsey adds that saying “no”—whether that’s to a pushy vendor, a family tradition that doesn’t resonate, or an unsolicited opinion—is an act of self-preservation, not selfishness. They encourage brides to have honest conversations with family and friends early on, setting expectations about what is and isn’t up for discussion. That way, you’re not blindsided in the final weeks when tensions can already be high.
Your love should outshine the details
When all is said and done, the flowers wilt, the playlist ends, and the dress gets zipped back into its garment bag. What doesn’t fade? The memory of how much love filled the room and the feeling of being surrounded by people who showed up for you.
Avoiding wedding regret isn’t about perfecting every single detail. Plan from a place of joy instead of pressure, and you’ll look back on a day that felt like yours.
