When it comes to parenting essentials, not all products are created equal—and Lauryn and Michael Bosstick learned that firsthand on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Show. In a conversation with Jess Jacobs, CEO of Coterie, the couple opened up about toxic ingredients in everyday wipes and the nonstop “diaper gnome” reality of raising kids.

As Lauryn put it, “Do you know how many times a day that we use [Coterie] products? All day long.” That trust came from realizing that many mainstream diaper and wipe brands include questionable chemicals parents never signed up for. Enter Coterie: a premium baby care brand built by parents, for parents, on a mission to keep baby care safe, simple, and actually high-performing—from the diaper that started it all to their wipes and brand-new skincare line.

Check your ingredients

Lauryn’s turning point started with a lab report. “I went and got my blood tested and it came back super high in triclosan,” she says. Her doctor’s question—“What are you using that has this much triclosan?”—sent her on a full audit of her routine.

The culprit? “Turns out one of the most popular wipe brands has a derivative of triclosan in it that they don’t disclose on the label,” Lauryn says.

Jacobs explains why this matters: “The diaper industry is not closely regulated, which is really scary and really surprising.” Parents deserve performance and safety. “All of our products are hypoallergenic. They are dermatologist-tested. They are free from fragrances, parabens, phthalates, triclosan, chlorine bleaching, VOCs, dioxins, BPA. I could go on and on,” says the CEO, explaining how their products avoid over 1,000 other potentially concerning chemicals.

Sleeping through the night starts with skin health

Every parent knows the struggle of midnight wake-ups, but Jacobs points out that it’s not always hunger driving those 2 a.m. cries. More often than not, it’s discomfort. “What’s often happening is a baby is peeing in the night. And they’re getting freezing cold,” she says. “That’s what wakes them up.” Think about it—when water hits warm skin, it feels icy, and that shock is enough to jolt a baby awake.

Coterie diapers are designed to pull moisture away from the skin quickly. “Our diaper wicks away that liquid from the skin in seconds, mere seconds. It’s doing it four times faster than leading brands,” Jacob claims. By keeping skin dry, it not only prevents irritation and diaper rash but also helps babies sleep longer stretches. And when the baby sleeps, the whole household sleeps. As Lauryn put it, that shift was a game-changer: “Most of all though, she was finally sleeping through the night. And then guess what? I was sleeping and my whole family was sleeping.”

Bigger, thicker, safer wipes

If you’ve had a wipe rip mid-cleanup, you know the frustration (and the mess). Coterie wipes are designed to save parents from that exact scenario. They’re made to be sturdy and 30 percent larger than other leading brands, meaning you need fewer wipes to get the job done. “Our wipes…don’t break through like other wipes,” says Jacobs. “If you’re using a flimsy wipe and your hand is breaking through and you are getting in that mess, I don’t care how much you love your baby—gross.”

Demand transparency

Parents already juggle enough without needing to become chemists on the side. The reality is, most baby product labels don’t tell the full story. “We were the first brand to publish our third-party testing safety reports that we did with independent labs. Others have followed suit and that’s great. That’s what we want,” Jacobs says. In other words, Coterie doesn’t just say their products are clean; they put the receipts out in the open.

This matters because diapers and wipes touch babies’ skin 24/7, yet there’s little accountability for what actually goes into them. “The diaper industry is not closely regulated, which is really scary and really surprising,” Jacobs says.

Parenting without the overwhelm

The early years of parenting come with endless decisions. From nursery paint to baby food to bath products, every choice feels significant. Jacobs and her team at Coterie understand this: “We don’t want them to have to stress about, is this clean? Is this going to be effective? Is this going to be high performing? The more of the mental load we can take off of our customers, the better so that they can focus on other things.”

By removing the guesswork, Coterie simplifies one part of the parenting equation. Their products are tested, chemical-free, and designed to work all day and night—meaning less time reading ingredient lists and more time focusing on the moments that actually matter.
