It wasn’t too late for Justin Bieber to say he’s sorry.
In a moment that was equal parts shocking and overdue, Justin Bieber took to Instagram earlier this week to publicly apologize to his wife, Hailey Bieber, after a deeply personal—and incredibly harsh—comment from their past resurfaced. What triggered the confession? Hailey’s solo debut on the cover of Vogue, marking a significant milestone in her modeling career.
Justin recalled a particularly nasty fight they had early in their relationship, writing that he once told her, “You’ll never be on the cover of Vogue.”
He admitted it was “so mean” and said it stemmed from feeling “so disrespected” that he wanted to get even. “As we mature, we realize that we’re not helping anything by getting even,” he continued. Growth? Maybe!
Although the original caption has since been changed to a string of remorseful emojis (classic damage control), the internet didn’t miss it—and neither did Taste of Taylor host Taylor Strecker, who had some thoughts on the whole situation.
Hailey Bieber’s new Vogue cover is more than just a career win—it’s a personal triumph. The 27-year-old model (and new mom) opened up in the accompanying interview about how motherhood has transformed her, saying, “It’s been my biggest teacher so far, the biggest teacher in my relationship. You see your partner so differently.”
Taylor praised Hailey’s composure: “I give her credit for not publicly clapping back. Like, that cover could’ve been her ‘I told you so’ moment, but instead she chose grace. I would’ve been petty—but that’s why I’m not married to Justin Bieber.”
But Taylor didn’t let Justin off the hook entirely. “It’s always fascinating when men weaponize ambition like it’s a character flaw. Like—God forbid your wife wants more for herself. And then when she gets it, suddenly they’re the victim for being ‘insecure.’ No, sweetie. You were just wrong.”
Comedian & Puddles Podcast host Andrew Collin, who was Taylor’s guest for the episode, chimed in: “You gotta wonder how many arguments we’re gonna have to publicly watch Justin apologize for. I love a remorseful king, but maybe stop saying this kind of stuff in the first place?”
To be fair, Justin and Hailey have always been open about their relationship’s ups and downs. Their first Vogue cover, which they appeared on together in 2019, was a confessional on marriage struggles. The two tied the knot that year and welcomed their son, Jack Blues Bieber, in 2024. So yeah, there’s history.
Taylor wrapped the convo with a final dose of Gen X realism: “Here’s the thing. If you love someone, you build them up. You don’t throw your insecurity in their face like it’s a fact. Apologizing is great—but being better is even better.”
Couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Let’s just hope this is the last time we have to say, “Justin, really?”
But if not, don’t worry—we’ll be here.
