Was the Breakup with Tristan Thompson a Publicity Stunt? Khloé Kardashian Is Setting the Record Straight

The Kardashian family has been associated with some salacious moments in entertainment history. From the O.J. Simpson trial to Kim Kardashian’s infamous sex tape to the Taylor Swift-Kanye West feud over a song lyric to Tristan Thompson-Jordyn Woods cheating rumors, people have been talking about the famous family for decades—and the rumor mill doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.   

There’s also the more over-the-top conspiracy theories like that the Kardashian clan is a part of the illuminati, that they put curses on the men they date, or that they’re not actually human—yea, there’s a lot of talk about the Kardashians. In a recent episode of Khloé in Wonderland, Khloé sets the record straight and addresses some of the craziest and far-fetched rumors about her family. Her brother, Rob Kardashian, even joins her on the phone to debunk a few rumors. 

Here are some of the biggest rumors about the Kardashian family: 

Khloé Kardashian faked her split with Tristan Thompson for PR  

As long as Khloé can remember, there have been rumors about her family. “I don’t know the very first rumor I’ve heard about me and my family, but there’s a long, long list,” she says. “Some rumors, you just think, ‘Where did that even start from and how does it have legs to become a viral thing?’” 

One crazy rumor Khloé discusses is that she faked her breakup with Thompson for PR and that they are still together. Thompson and Khloé have been broken up for about three and a half years; it’ll be four years in December 2025. “I don’t want any of that kind of PR,” she scoffs. “That’s a very big commitment. I don’t even think Meryl Streep could pull it off—and she’s the best actress.” 

The Kardashians are witches  

This rumor has been swirling about the Kardashian family enterprise for years. Khloé has seen a TikTok video with the backstory—that her great-grandmother on the Kardashian side went to a witch who made a spell so that her family would be famous and rich. 

While Khloé says she can’t attest to what her great-grandmother did back in the day, she’s not a witch, at least not that she knows of. “I don’t think any of us are witches,” Khloé says. “I would hope that if I were a witch, I would know some really cool spells, and I know nothing.” 

The Kardashians are AI clones and reptiles  

Khloé laughs at the rumor that she and her family are clones. “Some of these don’t even make sense,” she says. “I am not a clone, and AI just became a thing—so did we just become clones? Lame.” 

Khloé has heard about the reptile rumor, and she thinks it’s because of her long nails. “I used to have shorter nails, and when your nails are shorter, your hands look stumpier,” she explains. “Hence, my long nails. I like elongated nails.” 

Kim Kardashian has six toes and is part alien  

Khloé sets the record straight that Kim doesn’t have six toes. “Kim actually has beautiful feet,” she says. “I’d say we all do in our family, but there is one sister’s feet that aren’t the best. But God is fair because she’s gorgeous.”  

Khloé is the family crisis manager in disguise 

Khloé has never heard this rumor, but she says she can’t claim that label. Instead, she considers herself to be more of a support system. “I’ve never heard that, but I am honored,” she explains. “Whenever someone needs me, I am going to be there.” 

When it comes to managing a crisis, Khloé says it’s her mom, Kris Jenner, and Kim that lead the way. “When there is a crisis, we all come together and we have a few family meetings,” she adds. “Kim will have a master plan and tell us what to do, but it’s definitely not me.” 

The family uses crisis actors in scenes on the show  

This rumor stumps Khloé, and she doesn’t fully understand it. But the simple answer is no, the Kardashian family doesn’t hire paid actors to be their entourage.  

“We barely have people around us,” Khloé says. “I feel like we’ve lost all of our friends because we have been on camera for 20 years. Who you see on television are the loyal few who have stayed.” 

Khloé Photoshops every picture she posts  

While she doesn’t do this now, Khloé admits that there was a time when she Photoshopped her social media photos because she was around people who made her feel like she needed to. “Back then, I wouldn’t dare post a picture without heavily Photoshopping, and in hindsight, I look back and I realize it’s a cartoon character,” Khloé admits. “I feel bad that I felt like I needed to look like that.”  

It was also a trend during the early 2000s. “I think it was the era,” she adds. “I feel like a lot of people were Photoshopping more than we do now. We all got consumed in this filter lifestyle, and we couldn’t see ourselves without a filter.”  

Rob Kardashian doesn’t film for reality TV because of a family blowout 

Khloe’s brother, Rob Kardashian, joins her on the phone to debunk a few rumors about himself—one of the biggest ones being speculation about why he isn’t on their Hulu reality TV show, The Kardashians.  

Rob says the reason has nothing to do with his family, but it’s about himself. “I don’t want to be filming and putting myself in a position where I am uncomfortable; I’m not comfortable in my own skin,” he explains. “Why would I want to be on camera and let people in?” 

According to Rob, filming for millions of viewers isn’t for everybody. “I choose my own happiness and peace rather than filming for people who don’t do anything for me in my personal life,” he adds. 

But Rob says he isn’t opposed to making a cameo on the show. It all depends on whether he’s feeling good about himself. “I like being around my family, so that type of content is good to me,” he says. “I love filming if it’s positive and natural.”
