Khloé Kardashian Helped Tell Lamar Odom’s Story, Now She’s Questioning Why

The past doesn’t always stay in the past, especially when it’s repackaged for public consumption in a Netflix documentary.
On a recent episode of Khloé in Wonder Land, host Khloé Kardashian sits down with longtime bestie Malika Haqq to peel back the layers on her complicated involvement with ex Lamar Odom, specifically regarding the NBA alum’s recent documentary and how he framed her in a bad light during press interviews after its release.
With her pal by her side, Kardashian is here to set the record straight. Here’s what she has to say.
Why Khloé agreed to participate in the first place
Kardashian is clear that revisiting that chapter of her life was never the goal. “Do people think I just like talking about this all day long? F*ck no. It’s traumatic,” she says. Still, she ultimately agreed to sit down for the documentary after repeated outreach from Odom’s team and Netflix producers, and the understanding that the doc couldn’t have been made without her commentary.
“I willingly do the Netflix thing for Lamar. I’m not getting paid one penny to do this,” she emphasizes, noting that her participation came from a place of goodwill rather than obligation. Her intention, she explains, was to help paint a more positive picture: “I said, I want to make sure this is a positive piece.”
Behind the scenes of the documentary
Kardashian says she didn’t have any creative control over how she was portrayed. “I’m not an executive producer. I don’t edit anybody on their documentary. I’m not paid a cent,” she says.
Instead, she describes her role as purely responsive—answering questions posed by producers. “So I am just doing exactly what the producers ask of me,” she explains, adding that she hadn’t even seen the full project until its release.
But her frustration stems from what she sees as a misunderstanding of that process, both publicly and from Odom himself in the aftermath.
The fallout and public response
Tensions escalated for Kardashian when Odom began doing press around the documentary, allegedly contradicting the reality star’s account. “Now Lamar is doing press, insinuating that I’m a liar,” she says bluntly.
For her, that felt like straight-up betrayal—especially given her efforts to support the project. “I did it for him,” she says. “But now to like play in my face…and insinuate I’m a liar.”
Haqq backed her up, suggesting the backlash may stem from how audiences are responding. “He just didn’t like the answers. That doesn’t make it not true,” she says.
Closing that chapter for good
More than a decade after their turbulent relationship, Kardashian makes it clear she has no interest in revisiting the past again. “That chapter is done. I’m good, he’s good, we’re good,” she says earlier in the conversation—but the documentary fallout appears to have complicated that closure, which should have been relatively simple.
Still, she drew a firm boundary moving forward. “Remember, yes, you are dealing with decent people, but don’t take our kindness for weakness. Clock it,” she says. She’s told her truth and she’s done explaining it.
