On ‘Let’s Be Honest,’ Kristin Cavallari Explains Why She’s Done With Dating Apps

Dating apps feel like both a blessing and a curse—and no one gets that better than Kristin Cavallari. On Let’s Be Honest, the mom of three opened up about her love-hate relationship with online dating and why she officially deleted her Raya account.
Cavallari has never been afraid to be candid about the ups and downs of putting herself back out there. This time, she goes deeper into the lessons she’s learned from trying apps, trusting her gut, and realizing she’s ready for something real.
So, what made Cavallari pull the plug on Raya once and for all? According to her, it was a mix of red flags, eye-opening experiences, and a desire to create space for more organic connections. And yes, she’s got stories.
The problem with deleting Raya
As it turns out, deleting Raya isn’t as simple as hitting a button. Cavallari thought she had gotten rid of her account two years ago, only to find it was still active. “You have to actually email them and be like, hey, remove my account,” she warns. That technical glitch left her profile floating around even when she wasn’t using it—a nightmare scenario for someone in the public eye.
It’s also an illustration of how dating apps can sometimes feel like they’re running the show. Cavallari notes that she’s seen celebs get into trouble after people spotted them on Raya while in relationships. “I can guarantee those people think that they deleted their account, because I thought I deleted mine,” she notes.
The red flags she couldn’t ignore
Even when her profile was active, Cavallari wasn’t exactly impressed with what she found. One story she shares involves a retired athlete who looked perfect on paper—attractive, successful, seemingly put-together—but she quickly realized something was off.
“He never once asked me a question,” Cavallari recalls. She purposely stopped asking him anything to see what would happen, only for him to respond hours later with, “We should meet soon.” For Cavallari, that was all she needed to know. “Why do you want to meet up with me? You know nothing about me, sir,” she says.
That lack of curiosity was a sign of something bigger. “Isn’t that like the biggest indicator of narcissism?” she asks. And she’s not wrong—because anyone who’s been on a bad date knows that being talked at instead of talked to is a surefire way to lose interest fast.
Why she’s manifesting real-life connections
After enough half-hearted chats and missed connections, Cavallari decided it was time to walk away. “I did end up deleting Raya, so I made sure of it,” she says, confirming she went through the whole process this time. But instead of feeling defeated, she sounds energized.
She’s clear about what she wants now: to meet someone in person, not through a screen. “I really am manifesting meeting someone in real life,” Cavallari explains. “That’s just how I want it to go down for me.”
And it’s not just about romance—it’s about alignment. Cavallari admits she once pushed herself to keep seeing someone who looked good on paper, even as her whole body told her to run the other way. Breaking it off immediately gave her a sense of relief. “My whole body relaxed,” she shares. That’s when she knew she had to keep trusting her instincts.
Reframing the dating conversation
Cavallari reframes dating as an exercise in self-awareness, not just romance. She laughs about adjusting her age preference on Raya up to 50 and realizing older men are more her type. She jokes about how attraction works differently for everyone. She also reflects on how moving past apps means opening her eyes to possibilities closer to home—even in Tennessee, where she once felt like dating was impossible.
“I have seen so many hot guys, even in Tennessee, where now I’m like, ‘wow, there is an abundance of great men out there,'” she says. That shift from scarcity to abundance is about a change in her mindset.
For anyone feeling burnt out by dating apps, her perspective is a refreshing reminder: the best connections don’t happen on a screen—they happen when you least expect them.
