Liv Morgan wanted to be in WWE since she was five years old. She didn’t have money, connections, or a single family member in the business. What she had was a makeshift wrestling ring in her backyard made of lawn chairs and string, a mom raising seven kids on her own, and a feeling she couldn’t explain that told her this was exactly what she was supposed to do.

Twelve years into her career, she’s a two-time Women’s World Champion, the 2026 Royal Rumble winner, and is headlining WrestleMania 42 this weekend against Stephanie Vaquer. On You Wish, she sits down with host Holly Madison and goes all the way back to the beginning.

From a Hooters in New Jersey to a WWE tryout in Orlando

Morgan missed too many days of school because of family issues at home and was told she’d have to repeat a grade. She dropped out, got her GED, and walked into the Hooters across the street because she needed a job. That’s where she met Joe Franco, a world-renowned strength and conditioning coach who happened to train Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. “We were just making small talk and I think I had said something about wrestling,” Morgan says. “And before I knew it, I was gapping his ear off with all my wrestling knowledge.”

Franco trained her for free five days a week for six months, eventually cutting a compilation video and sending it to WWE. Not long after she was on a flight to Orlando for her tryout—the first time she’d ever been on a plane. She didn’t even know the difference between a checked bag and a carry-on. “I had like no business maneuvering through this airport,” she says. “But I figured it out.”

The phone call that changed everything

Morgan was about to leave for a Hooters shift when WWE called to offer her a contract. “I just cried on the phone instantly and they were like, ‘Do you want us to call back?'” she says. “And I was like, ‘No, I’m okay.'” Her brother was at her house and knew immediately from her reaction. “If you look at my life on paper, I should not be a WWE superstar,” she says. “And so I just remember knowing, oh wow, I had done it. I’m going to change my life. I’m going to change my family’s life.” Her first big purchase once she started making money was buying her mom a house.

The download she got at five years old

Morgan doesn’t fully know. She was watching WWE for the first time and something just clicked. “I wasn’t necessarily thinking in terms of being responsible for my family,” she says. “But I just watched it and I just knew. It was kind of the first time I was inspired by anything.” She describes it as something that came from beyond herself. “It came from the universe, came from God, came from whatever you would believe to receive these magical messages,” she says. “I don’t know, but I knew.” She also made 11:11 wishes every single night to grow up and be in WWE. When it finally happened, she was like, “Wow, that sh*t works.”

She stopped manifesting and started receiving

Before her shoulder injury, Morgan had everything going for her but was still wanting more. “I had all these blessings in front of me and I was still wanting more and then I don’t have any of it,” she says. The injury forced her to slow down and be present. When she came back, she made a conscious decision to stop asking for things and just see what showed up. “It’s been different, but honestly, since I’ve been doing it, I’ve had a lot of really cool sh*t happen to me,” she says. “Sh*t that I’ve never even wanted to do or thought to do.” A music video she sang and danced in. A Paper Magazine cover. Winning the Royal Rumble. “As soon as I stopped asking for these things, I just kind of got blessed with them,” she says. “They say when you stop wanting is when you receive…I’ve just surrendered kind of and then I’ve just been getting blessed with these things that just blow me away.”

Success doesn’t feel the way she thought it would

Not exactly. “I feel successful in that I’m happy and I’m healthy and I have financial freedom and I’m able to take care of my loved ones,” she says. “But as far as being Liv Morgan and getting to do the amazing opportunities I get to do, I’m blessed and I’m so happy to do them, but that doesn’t feel like success to me.” The accolades come and go. The magazine covers pass. But knowing she can take care of her family? That resonates on a level that nothing else touches.

WrestleMania is really just the biggest family reunion she’s ever had

“This is quite literally the biggest family reunion my family has ever had,” Morgan says. Her entire family—nieces, nephews, everyone—is flying to Las Vegas to watch her headline WrestleMania 42 against Stephanie Vaquer. The group chat has been going off. “Whether I win or lose, I’m so happy and grateful to have my family there together,” she says. “It was all of our dream, and the fact that one of us got to see it through, they’re so happy for me.”

After 12 years, a backyard ring made of lawn chairs, and a dream she’s had since she was five, Morgan is exactly where she’s supposed to be. “How can you wish for something your whole entire life and then when you get it, complain about it?” she says. “I remember my life before WWE. My life is so much sweeter now.”
