Love Island USA is the biggest show of the summer right now, which means everyone wants to know what actually goes down in that villa when the cameras cut. Season 7 breakout Jeremiah Brown has answers.

On The Pre-Game with Kayla Nicole, the certified fan favorite pulls back the curtain on sober challenges, brutal sleep, and the survival trick every islander uses to get through those infamous games. Consider this your backstage pass.

Are you guys actually drunk during those challenges?

“No, we can’t get drunk…There is [liquor in the cups] but not enough to get us drunk. Like we don’t get drunk…We drink, but we don’t get drunk…Mind you, all the challenges—we only drink at night, you know what I’m saying? So, all the challenges, we’re 100 percent sober. Every single challenge.”

What does being completely cut off from the outside world do to you in there?

“The further I get away from it, the more grateful I am for just such a crazy experience…it’s such a crazy, beautiful thing to be a part of…you’re pulled out of the world. No phone, no clocks, and it’s such a unique experience. But yeah, no, there are some days like we go to bed when the sun is rising and then we wake up and then go. So there are some crazy days, hours of sleep, three hours of sleep.”

Those food challenges look genuinely disgusting. What was the worst?

“I left before some of the more interesting ones. Well, I didn’t leave. I got kicked out. But yeah…We did some milk ones. That was disgusting. We spit milk into each other’s mouths…We’re waking up at like 7 a.m. to go do those.”

So how do you make out with a stranger on camera and then go be normal? What’s the secret?

“During a lot of those moments, you kind of black out in the sense of like…you dissociate. Yeah, like you’re covered in milk, making out with random people. So it’s like there’s moments you just like pull yourself out of your body…

…At the end of the day, we’re all friends. Like we’d all make out, and then we’d kick it and like, you know, hang out later the same—like in the villa, you know? Go make lunch for each other etc. So it’s like, yeah, you kind of get over that in the show because like, oh, you’re the homie, smooch, smooch, smooch, oh, you’re still the homie. It’s really weird, but that’s the show.”

Did the villa change how you approach dating in real life?

“It was a dope experience, like one of the best things ever, but at the same time, it didn’t really change my views on relationships…

…Outside of the show, there’s no challenges. Like in real life, I’m not going to date a girl and then next week like, ‘Oh, yo, there’s a challenge, bro. She has to kiss eight guys at the bar.’ Like that’s not happening. So in the show, it’s okay because it’s part of the show, but outside the show, it’s not happening. So then of course I can be, you know, protective.”
