AI isn’t coming—it’s here. While tech enthusiasts celebrate the possibilities and entrepreneurs scramble to capitalize, many of us are left feeling somewhere between overwhelmed and existentially unsettled. If you’ve been slow to embrace the AI revolution, you’re not alone in that resistance.
AI is reshaping how we learn, communicate, create, and even how we approach therapy. But for all its promise, the age of AI raises uncomfortable questions: Are we creating a utopian future of enhanced human potential, or headed toward a dystopian future where authentic connection becomes obsolete?
Gabby Bernstein, spiritual teacher and host of Dear Gabby, isn’t here to answer that question definitively. Instead, she offers something more practical: tools for staying spiritually centered as the world transforms around us at breakneck speed.
“We can be conscious in a time where things happen rapidly and massive change is on the way,” Bernstein says. “We have to prepare energetically. This is not to be dramatic but to be mindful, conscious, and open and willing to receive.”
If you’re feeling anxious, it’s possible to align your nervous system, strengthen your faith, and open your mind to creative ways of living in the age of AI.
Many people on spiritual paths feels particularly conflicted about AI’s rise. Concerns about dehumanization, spiritual manipulation, and losing our connection to authentic human experience aren’t unfounded.
But Bernstein suggests that resistance without understanding might be more dangerous than engagement with awareness. “We don’t know what we don’t know,” Bernstein says. “If we have blind spots, they can catch up to us later, and we can find ourselves in difficult moments.”
Bernstein says it’s important to open up to what is in front of you. She encourages people to take the time to learn how tools like ChatGPT and Gemini actually work. You don’t have to love them, but understanding them gives you agency in how you respond to their presence in your life.
If you have a spiritual path, you already have a strong foundation. That spiritual connection will keep you steady in these uncertain times. “As the shifts come—shifts in people’s careers and the economy—all of this is real. But we don’t have to be apathetic. We also don’t have to fear it. We just have to prepare for it energetically,” Bernstein advises.
As we enter into seasons of uncertainty and evolving technology, it’s important to strengthen your spiritual foundation and prepare yourself energetically. Here, Bernstein shares practical tools for staying centered:
Develop tools to calm yourself. Find grounding practices that work for you. For Bernstein, she returns to the the earth: sitting outside in the dirt with sun on her face, meditating, and reconnecting with her essential identity. “I am a spirit having a human experience. And that is my job to be a steady energy for the world around me, my family, and myself,” she says.
Find community. Your inner connection is the one thing no technology can ever replace. To build on your human connection, Bernstein encourages people to do more things to experience that interconnected, human connection. Whether it’s a gym class, a reading club, or a dance class—stay connected.
“Get yourself back to the basics,” she says, “because there is going to be this pull for autonomy, but stay in community. Get connected.”
Deepen your meditation practice. When external circumstances shake you up, you have to remain steady. Meditation isn’t just about feeling calm; it helps you cultivate your energetic presence. As Bernstein says, “Your presence is your power.” Find Bernstein’s free meditation practices here.
The age of AI is here, and here to stay. Don’t resist the changes of these times or ignore reality, that’s a reaction to fighting for control. Instead, Bernstein encourages you to listen, observe, learn, and educate yourself. The speed with which things are changing may shake you, but it doesn’t have to knock you out completely.
To maintain your peace, practice grounding techniques. Maintain your spiritual practices, listen to positive voices, and seek guidance from teachers. Listen to your inner voice for the next step forward.
