Just when we thought all the new menus had dropped, Sabrina Carpenter surprised us with a delicious debut—this time, in drink form.
Sabrina’s Brown Sugar Shakin’ Espresso hit Dunkin’ stores on New Years’ Eve, accompanied by a cheeky launch video featuring the pop star’s signature humor and even a cameo from her grandma.
As this is Dunkin’s first foray into shaken espresso drinks, we’re excited that they started with a classic. Similar to Starbucks and Blank Street’s take on the trending drink, Sabrina’s Brown Sugar Shakin’ Espresso includes oat milk, espresso, and ice. It’s expertly mixed in a shaker, as shown by Sabrina in the video, for a velvety, smooth taste.
While brown sugar is the key flavor in both drinks, Blank Street’s Shaken Brown Sugar Cold Brew swaps espresso and oat milk for a cold brew shot and regular milk. It also includes a pinch of cinnamon, which is a nice touch. While Blank Street’s coffee tends to be a lighter roast—since it uses a cold brew shot rather than espresso—the drink feels more like a dessert than a caffeinated bev. It’s great for anyone who prefers a lighter option.
Starbucks set the standard for all other shaken espressos (in this writer’s opinion, at least). The ingredients are pretty much the same between both drinks, so choosing a favorite will come down to which chain’s espresso you prefer.
