For fans of The Real Housewives of New York City, rumors of the show’s demise felt like a personal attack. After all, we’ve endured cast shake-ups, that 2021 hiatus, and even the controversial reboot—so to see a “Bye-Bye, RHONY” headline from The Cut sent everyone spiraling. However, according to Bravo daddy Andy Cohen, reports of the show’s death have been greatly exaggerated.

Is ‘RHONY’ canceled?

In short: not officially.

The chaos began when The Cut published a piece declaring RHONY was “going dark” after 15 seasons. The article leaned heavily on reporting from Page Six, which claimed the franchise’s future was on ice. Fans panicked, memes flew, and social media exploded.

That’s when Andy Cohen popped in with the energy of Teresa Giudice flipping a table, and the “prostitution whore” invective was implied.

“This is a cute story except it’s not cancelled,” Andy commented on the outlet’s Instagram post, shutting down cancellation rumors with one classic Andyism. But while he didn’t explicitly say the show is returning, his denial was enough to send RHONY Nation into hopeful overdrive.

As Us Weekly confirmed, a Bravo spokesperson said on May 9: “The show hasn’t been canceled.” So what’s going on?

According to an insider, “Final decisions haven’t been made, and they are seeing if they can find a solution.” The problem? None of the current cast has been offered contracts yet, and the infighting isn’t just on camera—it’s spilling into real life. The network is “figuring out how to make it work,” per the same source.

So, is RHONY canceled? Not exactly. But it’s complicated.

What did Taylor Strecker say about the potential ‘RHONY’ cancellation?

On the latest episode of Taste of Taylor, host Taylor Strecker and guest Maddie Ryan had hot takes about the swirling rumors. While the full Bravo tea didn’t dominate the episode, they briefly touched on the headline-grabbing chaos, with Taylor exclaiming, “Bravo is gone. Gone. RHONY gone. Gone. Gone.” Maddie agreed, “We’ll get to it.”

That’s pretty much the temperature in the fandom right now: confusion, speculation, and frustration wrapped in a chic Chanel knockoff from Canal Street. While Taylor and Maddie moved on quickly to discuss Mother’s Day meltdowns and bra-removal antics at Carbone (as one does), the comment reflects the general public perception that Bravo may have ghosted RHONY—even if Andy Cohen insists otherwise.

What happened on ‘RHONY’ last season?

Season 15 marked the second run of the rebooted RHONY, featuring a brand-new cast of glamorous Manhattanites: Sai de Silva, Jenna Lyons, Erin Lichy, Ubah Hassan, Racquel Chevremont, Brynn Whitfield, and Jessel Taank. While Season 14 felt like a fresh start, Season 15 delivered more tension than tequila.

Things got especially heated during the RHONY reunion. Most of the drama focused on whether the cast could continue working with Brynn Whitfield, who seemed to be the lightning rod for much of the discord. The reunion was a two-part event that ended with more questions than closure, and more than a few social media side-eyes.

Behind the scenes, it’s been radio silence on contracts. Producers and network execs are allegedly hesitant to commit to another season without knowing if the women can even be in a room together without threatening to shank each other with a stiletto.

In addition, RHONY was glaringly absent from Bravo’s May 7 announcement of their upcoming slate, and it’s no wonder fans assumed the worst.

So what’s next for ‘RHONY’?

If Bravo has taught us anything, nothing is ever really over. (See also: every Housewives franchise reboot, ever.)

RHONY might be taking a breather while the powers-that-be figure out if the current cast is salvageable—or if we’re in for yet another reboot, cast shake-up, or maybe even a legacy spin-off. In the meantime, we’ll keep watching the Instagram comments, lighting a prayer candle for Jessel, and waiting for Andy Cohen to drop another cryptic-but-definitive one-liner. Because if RHONY has to go out, it’s not going down quietly. Not on Andy’s watch.
