Alexis Waters is known for her time on Season 21 of The Bachelor and for her big and bold personality. In the words of Taylor Strecker, host of Taste of Taylor, Waters’ energy is “chaotic,” hence why they are a messy match made in heaven (or hell) in the latest episode of Strecker’s show.
A quick internet search on “Alexis Waters,” and you will find stories of wild parties, taking illicit drugs beside Chris Brown (he didn’t partake!), and a memorable first entrance on The Bachelor in a shark costume (or dolphin, depending on who you ask!)
Waters and Strecker recently caught up for some “married girl” time, with the reality TV star dishing about finding love in her post-Bachelor life. She’s revealing everything from what it was like to kiss Nick Viall, the lead from her season of The Bachelor, and a little behind-the-scenes of The Bachelor in Paradise.
Waters and her husband, Tyler Fernandez, got married at The Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. Of course, in true Vegas style, Elvis was their officiant, tying the knot on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
Waters’ wedding was anything but traditional. She and her husband went on a three-day bender leading up to the nuptials, losing her wedding license shortly after they made it official. The 10-minute ceremony cost $1,000 and was cheaper than her wedding dress, Waters reveals.
“I have no idea how I got myself in this situation. I thought I was going to be more mature and more womanly. But I feel like I am partying more as a married woman,” Waters admits.
Her Vegas wedding was an homage to her mom, Lucy Waters, who got married, while drunk, at the same Las Vegas chapel wearing two Old Navy tank tops and faux Birkenstocks. She and her husband are still married 25 years later.
“Growing up, I never wanted to have a big wedding. I always wanted to be a dolphin trainer or something crazy. I really wanted to follow in my mother’s footsteps and keep the family tradition alive of marrying at The Little White Chapel,” Waters says. “There is good ju-ju there. I heard people who get married there stay together.”
So how did Waters and her now-husband meet? Actually, through another contestant from The Bachelor, Rachel Lindsay. Lindsay was also a contestant on Viall’s season of the show and later went on to become The Bachelorette.
After filming season 21 of The Bachelor, Waters and the girls from her season flew to Miami for New Years, Lindsay inviting all her guy friends to meet up with the girls at a club. Waters remembers doing (more) illicit drugs when she met Fernandez and his Johnny Bravo hair.
Sparks flew instantly. “I was looking at him thinking, ‘He looks like a good time.’ We started talking, and it was effortless and easy. It was love at E11EVEN Miami Nightclub,” she recalls.
At 32 years old, Waters says she goes back-and-forth about whether or not she wants to have kids. “I love being an auntie. Making fun of them, spending time with them, and then giving them back. Maybe that is what God is saying is what’s meant to be,” she says.
Alex Cooper, 30, host of Call Her Daddy, recently shared on her show her experience with talking to her husband about waiting to have kids. Waters references Cooper’s podcast and how Cooper sharing her story encourages her to wait and to be honest with your partner about needing more time. “She’s two years younger than me. She still has time,” Waters says.
“Yes, you are still young. In your 30s, live your best life. Freeze them eggs,” Strecker adds.
Looking back on her Bachelor days, Waters says she loved it. She applied right after college at 23 years old, nursing a gnarly hangover in auditions On her application for the career section, she wrote, “aspiring dolphin trainer,” and despite having to take a drug test—which she failed—an STD test, and psych evaluation, the casting crew still chose her.
When it comes to Viall, Waters says he is better looking in person. And while Waters admits that he was a good kisser, she wasn’t that great, herself. “I was a stabby tongue at that time, but I was nervous. I was 23 at the time, such a baby,” she recalls.
Despite Viall being super hot, Waters says that Viall seemed to be playing a role on the show (instead of being his authentic self), but she’s not certain. In the month and a half that she was on set filming, Waters spent no more than 10 minutes with him. “I didn’t like him in a lovey, sexual way. But the girls were really into him,” she says.
