Erin and Sara Foster want you to take everything they say with a grain of salt—especially on their podcast. Erin and Sara have returned with a behind-the-scenes look into the second season of their hit Netflix series Nobody Wants This.
Before diving into the show, Sara kicks things off with a quick crash out session about embracing Erin’s zero f’s attitude, her frustration with hotel’s surcharges, and not caring about receiving free designer purses like other celebrities. They also rave about their shared obsession with Goop pizza before getting into the juicy details about the first days of filming the second season of Nobody Wants This.
While they won’t share any spoilers about Noah and Joanne’s relationship status, they do give us a sneak peak into production and a few easter eggs for next season.
The Nobody Wants This cast and crew had thorough media training about what they could and couldn’t reveal during press interviews—training that Erin slightly bombed in one interview. She explains, “We’re not going to have Sasha and Morgan together. That romance is over because we want to have them in scenes together as friends,” Erin disclosed. ”Then, it got picked up by the media.”
The head of 20th Television called Erin about the article, and she apologized for the spoiler mishap. But don’t worry! “Once that happened, we had plenty of time in the writers’ room. So don’t believe everything you read,” Erin says.
Although the show is loosely based on their lives, Erin shares that her husband, Simon Tikhman, wants to be left out of the promotions: “It’s been really funny lately how pissed Simon gets when we use him in the promos. I don’t think it’s a bit. I think it’s real.”
Sarah disagrees: “I don’t think it’s that deep. I don’t think it’s to the point that he is talking about it with a therapist. Now, the audience is on #TeamSimon. They’re with him.”
When Sara’s daughter, Valentina, unexpectedly accompanied her to a table read, Sara assumed her daughter wanted to see where she works.
“Now, I know—she just wanted a glimpse of Leighton Meester,” Sara reflects. “And Leighton just proves she is the nicest woman in Hollywood. She asks Valentina her thoughts on the scene as a 14-year-old—bringing her in creatively and making her feel seen. She is just the greatest.”
Though Sara was hesitant about being the only person to bring her daughter to the table read (Adam Brody actually mistakenly thought Valentina was a writer), it turns out there was someone else also seeking teenage approval: her aunt.
“Right after the table read, Valentina was standing next to me, and I was really wanting to impress her. I was thinking, ‘Everything has to run through me. Look at me making decisions—from small to big.’ And I really didn’t get the validation I was looking for,” Erin says.
Sara offers her sister some perspective: What Valentina really wants from “Aunt Erin” are the simple—free meals, rides, concert tickets, and photos.
