Kayla Nicole Wants to Be Your Pre-Game Best Friend

You might know Kayla Nicole as a contestant on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test or as Travis Kelce’s ex, but now? Nicole is carving her own lane. With the launch of The Pre-Game With Kayla Nicole, the media personality is diving into pop culture and the type of conversations typically reserved for the group chat.

“My hope is that this will be a safe place to have open and honest conversations, have a couple of drinks, and where people feel safe to feel vulnerable,” she says.

Nicole is the friend you love to call for both the tea and the advice you need. She is your normal homegirl getting ready with you before a fun night out, a deep scroll on the chaotic internet, or just for life itself. Before the night out, before any major event—the best part is always the pre-game.

On her first show, she is quite literally pouring herself a drink. A spicy martini, to be exact, extra dirty with jalapeno stuffed olives. Grab a cocktail or a fuzzy robe and slippers and get ready to relax and kickback with your new best friend. Cheers!

Get to know Kayla Nicole

When Nicole was younger, she had the perfect blueprint for her life—to be the next Oprah. Her plan was to major in broadcast journalism and someday have her own show covering pop culture and sports. Now, all these years later, she’s doing it—despite the naysayers (her college professor and boyfriend at the time). Today, she’s an actress, content creator, and host of the sports talk show I Am Athlete Daily in partnership with Revolt. “It’s for all my girlies who like sports and pop culture,” she explains.

Surprisingly she was hesitant to start her own podcast: “It’s ironic that I’m starting a podcast because I don’t listen to many. Everybody has a mic these days—I just don’t know if we all need to put a mic in front of our faces,” she laughs.

Nicole is in her self-proclaimed Sex in the City era. Although she is currently “outside,” she’s a relationship girlie at heart and hopes to settle down someday with the right guy.

After her high-profile relationship with Kelce, she’s opposed to dating in the public eye. When asked if she was hesitant to attend this year’s Super Bowl, knowing her ex would be playing, she says absolutely not. “I’m a girlie who loves sports, and it was a free ticket!” As for her dating life now? “The DMs are open! Please, DM me.”

What to look forward to

In The Pre-Game with Kayla Nicole, listeners can expect “four quarters” or sections in each episode. The first is “Catch Up and Yap,” where Nicole shares more about herself. The 33-year-old SoCal native from Corona, California studied broadcast journalism at Pepperdine University and has been in the entertainment industry ever since.

“I’ve done a lot of cool things. Currently, I’m what you call a multi-hyphenate. I have so many jobs,” she laughs.

Nicole journals each morning before scrolling on her phone. She shares recent journal entries—about how she and her friends like to pre-game virtually, how lash extensions ruined her natural lashes, and why she loves taking herself on dates (a $30 trip to MOMA is her current go-to).

Second quarter is “What’s Trending,” where Nicole covers hot topics. According to Nicole, starting a podcast seems to be trending. As of January 2025, there are currently four million podcasts worldwide with more than 500 million listeners globally, valuing the industry at $23.56 billion. Nicole, however, doesn’t think everyone needs a podcast. Her vow for her corner of the internet is to create “a vessel of joy, peace and light in your life,” but she doesn’t want “to create salacious content that ruins people’s lives,” she says.

Third quarter is “Ask the Chat”—aka the group chat where Nicole answers listener questions. The latest questions are about her current scent (Baccarat Rouge), favorite tattoos, and dating life.

Fourth quarter is “The Game Plan,” designed to help listeners win in life. She’s talking about the cultural obsession with “destination happiness,” the idea that happiness arrives when you reach a goal.

Nicole’s take? “Happiness is not something you arrive at. It’s something that you create. In my darkest moments, if I focus on the little pockets of joy in a day, it makes it easier to make it to the next day.”
