What Does Scheana Shay Have to Do with ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’?

If you’ve been watching The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the last person you’d think had a connection to all that Latter Day Mess was Scheana Shay. Alas, this is the crossover you didn’t know you needed.

Scheana Shay, the Vanderpump Rules OG and queen of Scheananigans, recently spilled so much behind-the-scenes tea about The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives that we’re going to need a Swig Dirty Dr. Pepper to wash it all down.

How is Scheana Shay involved with Mormon Wives? 

It turns out that Scheana isn’t just a casual viewer of the Hulu series. She’s deeply connected to some of the cast members and has had a front-row seat to a whole mess of off-screen drama. 

“I didn’t want to be involved in any of this,” she said on Scheananigans. “Normally, do I have my hands in every pot? Sure. On my own show with my own friend group. But now you’re pulling me into some Hulu drama with someone who was my friend before he was ever on Hulu.”

That “someone” is Marciano—yes, that Marciano—the man at the center of a tangled love quadrangle involving Jesse, Demi, and a very confused (and possibly poly) audience. Scheana detailed that Marciano stayed at her house, witnessed the flirtation between him and Jesse firsthand, and even saw “the receipts” confirming what he later told Layla in the season finale: “I fucked Jesse.”

So, did it happen or not?

If you’re wondering whether Jesse and Marciano really smanged, join the club. Scheana’s caught in the crossfire: “Jesse looked me in the eye at yoga that morning. She’s like, ‘I swear, Scheana, nothing happened.’ And I’m like, ‘I believe you.’ But then Marciano was telling me something did happen. I don’t know.”

And Scheana doesn’t just have the he-said/she-said. She also has their locations. “Also, Jesse, like, I know both of your locations were in the same place.” Ma’am. Did Scheana just become the accidental PI of Mormon Wife-Gate?

Demi, Jesse, and the reality TV pay gap

Scheana also clarified a primary storyline from the show: the supposed falling out between Demi and Jesse over contract negotiations. While the show frames it like Demi was trying to push Jesse out, Scheana offered a different perspective: “Demi is like, I’m trying to be a girl’s girl here. I’m trying to get all of us more money. But not everyone cared about more money. They cared about another season of the show.”

In short: Demi was pulling a Jersey Shore-style power move. Jesse was more focused on keeping her slot. And somewhere in between, Scheana was fielding calls and DMs from both sides like the unofficial HR rep of MormonTok.

The Mormons needed an HR department and Scheana answered the call

Much like a Catholic priest, Scheana makes for an easy Father (or Mother) Confessor. “All my dream is to be told things,” co-host Jared joked. “Like, I don’t even wanna repeat them. I just like to know.” Scheana’s response? “Same.”

This isn’t her first reality rodeo. Few are better equipped to navigate the chaotic Venn diagram of reality TV, poly rumors, and influencer fallout than Scheana Shay. She’s been lied to by Raquel and Sandoval, gaslit on camera, and still had the clarity to say, “Always say your ex has a small penis and finishes very quickly.”

Scheana may not be officially part of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast, but at this point, she might as well be their shadow narrator. As she put it, “Normally I’m in the middle of all the drama… now you’re pulling me into Hulu drama with someone who was my friend before he was ever on Hulu.”
