Another Super Bowl has come and gone, and this year, the Philadelphia Eagles soared to victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. In a game that had everything—big plays, dramatic momentum swings, Kendrick Lamar roasting Drake alive as Serena Williams danced along, and, yes, even a Taylor Swift sighting—the Eagles walked away with the Lombardi Trophy, leaving the Chiefs and their dynasty dreams in question. While the spotlight typically falls on touchdowns and MVPs, we’re taking a moment to spotlight the women who lived this season right alongside the players—the WAGs (wives and girlfriends) of the Super Bowl winners.

Inside Super Bowl Week with the Eagles’ WAGs

During the lead-up to the big game, Sunday Sports Club host Allison Kuch sat down with Nkki Mailata, wife of Eagles’ offensive tackle Jordan Mailata, who offered a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to prepare for a game of this magnitude. “Some of the girls on the team got in on Tuesday, and that early anticipation when things were quiet kind of got the nerves started,” she shared. “But then we’ve had some really fun events, like this, and it’s helped kind of distract a little bit.”

She also revealed how tight-knit the Eagles’ WAGs are, saying, “We have a giant group chat. We actually had to make a GroupMe because there’s so many of us!” She described the week as a reunion of sorts, with families flying in from across the globe over. In her case, Jordan’s family traveled all the way from Australia. “Last Super Bowl, they were like, ‘What is going on?’ because, I mean, American football is very American. But now, they get it. The NFL is even opening an academy in the Gold Coast.”

As for her pre-game nerves? “The morning is going to be as peaceful as it possibly can be. Some of the girls are getting together, getting some glam done, probably with meditation music in the background—literally lighting incense,” she joked. But when it comes to tailgating? “That’s when the alcohol will get in the system.” Relatable.

The Game Day Experience: Nerves, Glam, and Manifesting a Win

Watching the Super Bowl as a player’s wife isn’t quite the same as watching it with your friends over wings and beer. “I feel anxious for preseason games,” Mailata said. “So, like, how are you going to stay calm during the Super Bowl?” Kuch asked. “I think it’s important to bring people that you know will keep you calm,” Niki admitted.

And then there’s the game-day outfit planning, which, let’s be honest, is a sport in itself. “I only started putting stuff together on Friday,” Mailata shared. “There was just so much logistics—Jordan’s family coming in from Australia, trying to see who could come.” Her style solution? “I love reworked team gear into a designer outfit,” she revealed.

The Chiefs WAGs and the Swift Factor

Of course, no Super Bowl conversation is complete without mentioning the most famous WAG in football—Taylor Swift. Dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Swift was the undisputed queen of the luxury suite, where she cheered on Kansas City with her usual enthusiasm. Last season, she proved she was just as much “one of the WAGs” when she was seen chugging a beer on the jumbotron.

Jackie Tranquill, wife of Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill, also joined Sunday Sports Club and talked about what it’s like to be part of such a winning team. “We’ve been with the Chiefs for two years, and we’re going to our second Super Bowl,” she marveled. “Drue is a little good luck charm, huh?” She added that Drue loves playing for the Chiefs because, “he loves winning. He loves going to work every day. It’s so exciting, especially playoff time.”

Still, the Chiefs WAGs had perspective even in the face of a loss. “I pray a lot,” Jackie admitted when asked how she stays calm during games. “I pray for a supernatural bubble of protection every single game.”

The Reality of Super Bowl Life

One thing fans may not realize? The players’ families aren’t exactly handed Super Bowl tickets on a silver platter. “How many tickets do you get to the Super Bowl?” Kuch asked Mailata.

“Fifteen,” she replied.

“Wait, that’s actually kind of a lot.”

“Yeah, but we have to buy them,” Mailata clarified. “They’re $3,500 for the upper deck and $5,000 each for the lower section.”

Jackie Tranquill chimed in: “The average person cannot afford a $5,000 ticket, so it’s really going to be put on the player to buy these tickets for their family to come watch them play.”

Even with the logistics, the stress, and the sky-high ticket prices, the women of the Eagles wouldn’t trade this experience for anything. “I’m just excited to see these guys live their dream,” Mailata said. “We have some players who were in the last Super Bowl, but for a lot of these guys, this is their first time. And I’m just so excited to see them reach the pinnacle of football.”
