Every fashion-loving millennial remembers precisely where they were the first time Miranda Priestly uttered “That’s all.” Nearly two decades later, the iconic Runway universe is back in couture circulation with The Devil Wears Prada 2—and this time, the stakes are even higher.

Recent chatter on Girls Gotta Eat confirms that a proper sequel is strutting toward the big screen, complete with returning legends and a few fresh faces. Here’s a tidy round-up of everything confirmed about the film so far, plus a peek at what co-hosts Rayna Greenberg and Ashley Hesseltine think about the news.

Yes, it’s a sequel—so breathe easy

Hesseltine wastes no time confirming fan fears. “Sequel. Not reboot. A reboot would piss me off,” she states. Greenberg echoes that relief, adding it “feels crazy…twenty years later” to see the story pick back up. Viewers will get the continuation they asked for—no retreads, no recasts, and no déjà vu with a cerulean sweater.

According to Deadline, original power players Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all locked in. Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna return as well. Newcomers include Kenneth Branagh and Bridgerton breakout Simone Ashley, the latter poised to inject fresh Gen-Z energy into the fashion world.

Greenberg can hardly contain her excitement. “The whole cast is returning! I’m so, so—it comes out May 2026. I’m very excited,” she shares. She also reminds listeners that Hathaway continues to deliver. “I do love her in almost everything I’ve ever seen her in. She’s amazing,” she remarks.

Miranda vs. Emily, print vs. digital

The sequel reportedly mirrors the real-world implosion of glossy magazines. Greenberg explains that the movie “takes place in real time” and explores “how the publishing industry has changed so much and how print media is on the way out.” In this new climate, former assistant Emily Charlton is now “a big badass” at a luxury conglomerate stand-in for LVMH and finds herself “pitted against Miranda” for dwindling advertising dollars.

Deadline’s scoop adds even more fashion fireworks: Branagh plays Miranda’s long-suffering husband, while Ashley steps in as a rising stylist who disrupts both women’s power plays. Cameras are already rolling, and insiders peg an early May 2026 theatrical release—fittingly timed for Met Gala chatter.

Why the timing makes sense

Hesseltine admits she was initially nervous, joking that she feared a Sex and the City 2-style misstep—but quickly came around once she heard the fundamental premise. “I’m into this: the original cast and, again, how the times have changed,” she says. “I’m with it.” Greenberg points out another meta layer: the film will spotlight “the end of [Miranda’s] career,” arriving just after Anna Wintour’s real-life retirement from Vogue

What’s still under wraps

Plot specifics beyond the Miranda-Emily showdown remain sealed as of now. Will Andy Sachs return? Can Nigel snag the creative director role he deserves? And how will modern influencers, digital covers, and sustainability pressures reshape Miranda’s ice queen rule? Until the studio releases an official synopsis, speculation will fill the editorial pages.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is shaping up to be the rare sequel that honors its source material while tackling fashion’s seismic shifts. With Streep ready to wield that withering stare, Blunt primed for a savage comeback, and fresh talent like Ashley poised to stir the pot, the runway is cleared for a stylish clash of generations.

Over 50 & Flourishing
Welcome to Over 50 & Flourishing, the show for any woman who feels like she lost her compass in the sea of midlife. I’m here to tell you it’s never too late to change your course and awaken the healthy, wise, and wonderful woman within. My name is Dominique Sachse, and I love to ask questions, which was why I spent nearly three decades of my life in the TV news business. I also started a YouTube channel in 2014 to connect intimately with my community, and I took an even deeper dive in my book Life Makeover - Embrace The Bold, Beautiful and Blessed You. I’ll be the first to say, I’ve made mistakes, and I’m not afraid to be vulnerable and learn from them. I mean let’s face it, this stage of life can be complicated. Children are moving out, relationships are being examined, our parents are aging, and we’re having to manage all of this along with our menopause! It’s easy to lose sight of ourselves, but can I just say.. we matter. So, whether it’s finding ways to enhance and celebrate our own beauty, taking bold steps toward living our best life in the second half of life, finding ways to be healthier, happier, and more spiritually connected, I will bring you thinkers and innovators who share the same passion of flushing out these ideas. It’s my goal to leave us all feeling inspired, thought and intent-driven, and with a sense of purpose in whatever we pursue. Let’s celebrate growing older together and embrace our Prime. It’s our time!
